Anointing!!!

Regardless of the original definition or usage, anointing intends to set apart a person for the divine call. By this I mean to empower him or her to accomplish God’s work. See herein Luke it’s well expanded. “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted.

To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD {Luke 4:18-19}.”He also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee {2 Corinthian 1:20-22}

What is the Anointing Within?

Anointing within has two aspects: What God is doing within us? And What God does through us? Therefore, anointing within us is an anointing within every believer – the Holy Spirit – who teaches us and guides us into all truth. As believers, we have already received that anointing, and that anointing abides within us continually!

It is recorded herein John, “If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray for the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans {John 14:15-18}, but you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things {1 John 2:20}

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teaches you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him {1 John 2:27}. John wrote these verses to believers, not to sinners because First John 2:28 says, And now, little children, abide in Him.

Peter said it is not by our power or piety. Fresh Anointing comes from faith in the name of Jesus and His Grace. The Anointing Upon is an outflow of God’s Grace in our lives. When we cooperate with Him, by grace we enter His presence {Acts 3:11-16}.

The above statement is supported herein John,” Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also, and greater works than these he will do because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son {John 14:12-13}

How do we acquire this anointing? Anointing within is Jesus’s promise upon those who accepted and believed in him.

The Anointing within is all about spending time with Jesus. It is dwelling in His Presence. Having His Spirit pouring into your life and then His presence pours out of your life, ministering to others. This dynamic is the result of spending time in His Word. When we develop a deeper understanding of His purpose and attributes, we grow as a channel for Him to use

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life {John 4:13–14}

 It’s also a god’s promise, I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleanness’s, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules {Ezekiel 36:26-27}

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people {Jeremiah 31:33}

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing {John 15:4–5}.

To cultivate the Anointing Within requires a heart that longs to follow His Word. Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit to those who love and keep his commandments.

It’s recorded here in the gospel of John “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you {John 14:15–17}.

What is the Anointing Upon?

The Anointing Upon often brings the prophetic messages if we avail ourselves for God’s divine call it’s commonly witnessed in apostolic ministry. Furthermore, it comes with the calling and destiny of God for a man: Everyone that is called of God for a particular assignment manifests it. That was the anointing that was noticed upon Samson in Judges 13:24-25.

It is not a true measure of your walk with God: It is not a true measure of your walk, state, level, or relationship with God. Even if a man is living in sin, this anointing will still manifest. “I have witnessed a mad man currying God’s message to a certain church.”

More about this anointing, it’s not a function of your relationship with God: It is not a measure of a man’s true spiritual state with God. Whether you pray or not, this anointing will manifest the moment you are carrying a calling. It’s also recorded the enemy cannot defeat the power of God, but a man who places emphasis upon this anointing and does not develop a walk with the Lord can be defeated. Samson is an example.

Throughout the scriptures, the bible says, that the Spirit came upon them and miracles happened. In 1 Samuel chapter ten Samuel anoints Saul to be King of Israel. The Spirit rushes upon Him and he prophesies with the school of prophets {1 Samuel 10:5–6}.

After that, you shall come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is. And it will happen when you have come there to the city that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man.

Like I have mentioned above community revival is accomplished by someone moving in the Anointing Upon, that is to apostolic anointing.

King Asa’s Religious Reforms is a live example, of anointing upon that fell on Azariah to take the prophetic message of restoration, courage and to do away with the detestable.

The Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded. And he went out to meet Asa and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; but when in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.

And in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the lands. So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity. But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim; and he restored the altar of the Lord that was before the vestibule of the Lord. Then he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who dwelt with them from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, for they came over to him in great numbers from Israel when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

So they gathered together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa {2 Chronicles 15:1–10}.

It’s recorded after the prophecy had been welcomed noticeable results were: courage was imparted, detestable Idols were forsaken, places of worship restored, great numbers came together to seek God’s presence

The preaching of the Word of God attracts Anointing upon in this case let us have peter as our live example

While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. “The gentiles experienced this because they had accepted and believed in Jesus Christ that why they were also marked by the Holy Spirit” {Colossian 2:11}

For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days {Acts 10:44–48}. Noticeable results of the anointing upon are:

1. They heard the Word

2. The Holy Spirit fell upon them

3. The onlookers were amazed

4. They spoke in tongues

5. They were magnifying and praising God

If we believe and accept Jesus Christ God can use us even when we don’t have it all together because it’s not our power or knowledge but by his spirit. It’s recorded herein Zachariah the word of God coming to Zerubbabel: “not by might nor by power but by the spirit of the lord {Zachariah 4:6}

In Acts 3 Peter and John move in the anointing, heal a cripple man. As the people are starring and amazed at what was done, Peter says some powerful things about moving in the anointing.

While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s. And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our power or piety we have made him walk? The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate.

When he had decided to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all {Acts 3:11–16}

Therefore have this noted, we do not bring the move of God by our power, strength, wealth, or intellect? Revival does not come from great marketing. We need the power of His Spirit. The power of the Anointing.

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. 7 Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel, you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’ ”

Zerubbabel understood that the work of God can only be accomplished by the Spirit of God moving through us.

As governor of Judah, Zerubbabel was ultimately responsible for rebuilding the temple, but he is forbidden to trust the resources of man to accomplish the task. So today God’s holy temple, the church, must be built and sustained, not by wealth, by members, by virtue, nor by sheer strength, but by My Spirit {Zechariah 4:6–7}.

Any attempt to do the work of God by our power limits us to our power. We need God’s Grace, which is the empowerment of His spirit.

How do we attract the (anointing) Holy Spirit

Who John the Baptist first introduced Jesus to the masses at the Jordan River, he made two analogies from the animal kingdom: Jesus was represented as the Lamb, and the Holy Spirit was represented as the dove.

What can we learn from the relationship between them? A lamb suggests to us three things: purity, meekness, and sacrifice. And that is what the dove, the Holy Spirit, is attracted to he who has a lamb nature to settle and remain in.

The Holy Spirit does not approve of arrogance, self-seeking, boastfulness, or aggressiveness. He is looking for purity, meekness, and a life sacrificially laid down for God. Jesus so attracted the Holy Spirit that the dove didn't just descend on Him but because he laid down his life to save God, the dove remained upon Him!

In the natural, the dove is somewhat a shy bird that can be easily scared away. That is very true of the Holy Spirit in a spiritual sense. The Holy Spirit, like a dove, is so gentle He is almost "shy." If you say or do anything that He cannot accept, His presence will leave you immediately.

Like a dove, He will fly away. The marvelous thing about Jesus is that He was never scared of the dove. In His entire ministry, Jesus never did one thing that drove the Holy Spirit away.

Not only did Jesus attract the Holy Spirit, but He also depended upon the anointing of the Holy Spirit. His relationship with the Holy Spirit is the key to the entire ministry of Jesus. There was not a single sermon that Jesus preached in the Gospels, or a single miracle that He performed, without feeling the Holy Spirit coming upon Him.

Jesus was totally dependant on the Holy Spirit. The whole public ministry of Jesus came out of the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon Him {Acts 10:38}

How did Jesus maintain such closeness to the Holy Spirit? Paul says, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption" {Ephesian 4:30}.

What are the things that grieve the Holy Spirit? They are bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking {Ephesian 4:31}. What are some attitudes that attract the Holy Spirit? When we are "kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another" {Ephesian 4:32}. When the Holy Spirit doesn't find the lamb's nature, it will not remain.
